Negation

This lecture explains our first logical operation: negation.

Takeaway Points

  1. Negation is the “opposite” of a simple sentence. Whenever the simple sentence is true, its negation is false; whenever the simple sentence is false, the negation is true.
  2. Negation statements are easy to identify because “not” almost always appears in them.
  3. We use a tilde to express the negation. So the negation of W is ~W.
