Broadly, states can engage in conflict or cooperation with one another. How do we model the strategic choice? This unit investigates three questions:
- How can individually rational behavior lead to collectively bad outcomes?
- Can the shadow of some future interaction induce two states to play nice with one another?
- How does cooperative behavior change when future interactions may never end?
